Is there any markup on it, or are they selling @ MSRP?

Also, why would they park it on the grass?!?!?!

probably because the grass is next to the street so passer-bys see it. What’s wrong with parking on grass anyway?

Literally one of the most southern points in NJ, was almost tempted to take a drive and check it out

I was visiting my parents the other weekend and swung by the dealer that my GTI and my father's car was purchased from. (Open Road VW of Bridgewater)

The Golf R on display had a $6,000 mark up bringing it total to $45,910. I took a picture of it and started laughing at all the management that was nearby. And said, good luck finding that idiot!

Now will they let anyone breathe on it, let alone test drive it? I’ve read somewhere (here maybe) that the standard VW dealer policy on Golf R test drive is “no friggin’ way. Why? Because fuck you, this a rare car. Buy it or don’t.”

Funny you say that...a few years ago when we were shopping for my wife’s new car, we pulled up to the local VW dealer to test drive a R (also coincidentally in SJ). We told the salesman what we wanted to do, and without hesitation he went and got the keys to a brand new, just off the trailer R with 3 miles on it. They hadn't even pulled the plastic off the seats and steering wheel yet. We took it on a very fun test drive.

In contrast, what you had described is what we faced at Cherry Hill Subaru, which was just a little down the road. They would not let us test drive a WRX or a BRZ because “people don’t want to buy them with miles on it”. Whatever, we were happy to take our money somewhere else.

ohhhhhh nice.

I have a dream of importing one to Mexico, as they haven’t sold the R Golf since the MK4.

@nermal - I/ we will be super fair and go for MSRP - you already know it’s a rare car - we always try to be fair - we wont try and add the extra dollars for “market adjustment” BUT you have to take me for a drive ;-)

Do you want to joyride it or test drive it for an interest because you between this an say an STI? You can drive it with proper credit approval but really - the amount anyone has even read on the car - we all know we don’t need to drive it - if we want it - we KNOW WE WANT IT!

I pass one on my way to work every day. Sexy car, this R is. Would have over an STI any day of the week.

All of the ones my dealer group has sold have been for north of MSRP. These were offers made by the prospective buyers to make sure they got one of the few cars being allotted.

When people want a rare, limited availability special like the R, the market determines price. Cheapskates can STFU and wait until they eventually hit the used lots.
